Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Filling

Ingredients
Cake
- 1 (15.25 oz) box chocolate cake mix
- ingredients required for cake mix
Filling
- 1/2 (3.4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding
- 1/2 c milk
- 1/2 t vanilla
- 4 oz Cool Whip, whipped topping, thawed (1/2 of 8 oz tub)
Frosting
- 1 (16 oz) tub Chocolate Frosting
Instructions
Cake
- Bake cake in a 9x13 pan, according to package directions.
- Allow $ cake to cool completely.
Filling
- Combine pudding mix, milk, and vanilla in a medium sized bowl.
- Whisk the ingredients together until they are well blended and the mixture begins to thicken.
- Fold in the whipped topping with a spatula until it is well mixed and frosting is uniform color.
Assembly
- Cut cake in half horizontally, and place bottom half on plate.
- Spread filling evenly over the cake bottom.
- Place cake top on top of the filling.
- Microwave tub of frosting for about 30 seconds or until frosting is soft and spreadable.
- Spread frosting over the top of the cake.
- Refrigerate cake until serving.
