Sangria

Ingredients

  1. 1 lemon, sliced, ends reserved
  2. 1 orange, sliced, ends reserved
  3. 1/2 c sugar
  4. 1/2 c water
  5. 1 (750 ml) bottle inexpensive merlot or burgandy wine
  6. 2 c carbonated water

Instructions

  1. Put orange ends and lemon ends in saucepan with sugar and water.
  2. Boil until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Cool, squeezing juice from cooked fruit.
  4. Place wine, fruit and sugar mixture in a pitcher.
  5. Refrigerate for several hours, or overnight.
  6. Add carbonated water just before serving.
  7. Serve over ice.
