Shrimp and Grits

Ingredients

    Shrimp

  1. 1 to 1 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled, deveined, and rinsed
  2. 4 oz butter, (1 stick)
  3. 1 garlic clove, minced
  4. 1/4 c ketchup
  5. 1 t cayenne pepper
  6. 1 t black pepper
  7. 1 t dried thyme
  8. 2 t Worcestershire sauce
  9. 1/4 t salt
  10. Grits

  11. 1 c quick cooking grits, 257 g
  12. 2 c chicken broth, 480 g
  13. 1 c water, 237 g
  14. 8 oz shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (2 c)

Instructions

    Shrimp

  1. In a small pot, mix together butter, garlic, ketchup, cayenne pepper, black pepper, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium heat, until boiling.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Allow sauce to cool slightly.
  5. Place shrimp in a medium bowl.
  6. Pour sauce over shrimp and stir to combine.
  7. Cook shrimp in a basket on the grill, or in a skillet until cooked.
  8. Grits

  9. Meanwhile, in large saucepan, combine chicken broth, and water. Bring to a boil.
  10. Stir in grits, reduce heat to medium low, and cover.
  11. Cook 5 to 7 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
  12. Stir in cheese.
  13. Serving

  14. Serve shrimp over grits.
