Vanilla Snack Cake

Ingredients

  1. 1 c sugar
  2. 1/2 c butter
  3. 2 eggs
  4. 1 1/2 t maple syrup
  5. 1/2 t almond extract
  6. 1 1/2 c flour
  7. 3 T cornstarch
  8. 1 3/4 t baking powder
  9. 1/2 t salt
  10. 3/4 c milk
  11. 1 batch of Vanilla Icing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour a 9x9-inch pan.
  3. Beat sugar and butter together in a medium bowl until creamy.
  4. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time; stir in maple syrup and almond extract.
  5. Combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  7. Stir in milk until batter is smooth.
  8. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven until it springs back to the touch, 30 to 40 minutes.
  10. Allow cake to cool completely, and then spread icing on cake.
