Rice, Instant Pot

    This recipe can be used for a variety of rice types. Adjust the water and cooking time accordingly.


    White Rice

  1. 2 c white, basmati, or jasmine rice
  2. 2 c water
  3. 1/2 t salt
  4. 1 T butter
  5. Brown Rice

  6. 2 c long grain brown rice
  7. 2 1/4 c water
  8. 1/2 t salt
  9. 1 T butter
  10. Wild Rice

  11. 2 c wild rice
  12. 3 c water
  13. 1/2 t salt
  14. 1 T butter


  1. Measure the rice into a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cool running water for about a minute. Add the rice, water, salt, and butter in the Instant Pot and stir to combine.
  2. Pressure cook the rice on high. Lock the lid in place and set to cook under HIGH pressure for the following times:(The Instant Pot will take 8-10 minutes to come up to pressure.
  3. White rice: 5 minutes

    Brown rice: 10 minutes

    Wild rice: 15 minutes

  4. Let the pressure naturally release for 10 minutes and then release any remaining pressure.
  5. Fluff and serve.
  6. Storage: Leftover rice can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 5 days or frozen for a few months.
