Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Filling

  1. 1 (15.25 oz) box chocolate cake mix
  2. ingredients required for cake mix
  3. Filling

  4. 1/2 (3.4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding
  5. 1/2 c milk
  6. 1/2 t vanilla
  7. 4 oz Cool Whip, whipped topping, thawed (1/2 of 8 oz tub)
  8. Frosting

  9. 1 (16 oz) tub Chocolate Frosting



  1. Bake cake in a 9x13 pan, according to package directions.
  2. Allow $ cake to cool completely.
  3. Filling

  4. Combine pudding mix, milk, and vanilla in a medium sized bowl.
  5. Whisk the ingredients together until they are well blended and the mixture begins to thicken.
  6. Fold in the whipped topping with a spatula until it is well mixed and frosting is uniform color.
  7. Assembly

  8. Cut cake in half horizontally, and place bottom half on plate.
  9. Spread filling evenly over the cake bottom.
  10. Place cake top on top of the filling.
  11. Microwave tub of frosting for about 30 seconds or until frosting is soft and spreadable.
  12. Spread frosting over the top of the cake.
  13. Refrigerate cake until serving.
