Haluski (Cabbage and Noodles)

  1. 2 oz butter, 1/2 stick
  2. 1 large onion, diced
  3. 1/2 head of cabbage, sliced
  4. salt to taste
  5. pepper to taste
  6. 8 oz extra-wide egg noodles, cooked according to package directions
  7. 1 (16 oz) cartons cottage cheese (optional)


  1. In large skillet, saute onions in butter until softened and starting to brown.
  2. Add cabbage, cover and saute until cabbage is softened.
  3. Continue to saute uncovered until cabbage is very soft and onions are browned.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add cooked noodles, and plate.
  6. Serve with a scoop of cottage cheese if desired.
