French Apple Pie

  1. 1 Frozen Deep Dish Pie Crust
  2. Filling

  3. 6 c peeled, cored. and sliced granny smith apples
  4. 1 1/2 c sugar
  5. juice of 1 lemon
  6. 4 T flour
  7. 1/2 t cinnamon, plus more for sprinkling
  8. 2 T butter
  9. Topping

  10. 1/2 c flour
  11. 1/2 c brown sugar
  12. 4 T cold butter



  1. Use frozen pie crust as base for pie.
  2. Filling

  3. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  4. Mix the apples with the sugar, lemon juice, flour, and cinnamon.
  5. Dot with the butter.
  6. Topping

  7. Cut the butter up with a knife, them mix in into the flour and sugar with hands or a fork until mixed together but lumpy.
  8. Spread the mixture evenly over the top of the apples.
  9. Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips, and bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°F and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  10. Remove the pie from the oven and cool to lukewarm before slicing.
  11. Store refrigerated, for up to 5 days.
