    This is Aunt Loreta Stoperas famous Danish Pastry! She would make this for parties and picnics!

Ingredients

    Crust

  1. 2 1/2 c flour
  2. 1 t salt
  3. 1 c vegetable shortening
  4. 1 egg yolk
  5. milk, variable amount
  6. Filling

  7. 1 c corn flakes, crushed
  8. 10-13 large tart apples, pared and sliced (Granny Smith or McIntosh)
  9. 1 t cinnamon
  10. 3/4 c sugar
  11. Topping

  12. 2 egg whites
  13. Glaze

  14. 3 t milk
  15. 3/4 c powdered sugar, 3 oz.

Instructions

    Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Using a pastry cutter or 2 knives, cut in shortening, so that it resembles small pebbles in the flour.
  4. Beat egg yolk in measuring cup.
  5. Add milk to make 2/3 c liquid. Mix well.
  6. Stir into flour mixture.
  7. On floured surface, roll half of the dough to 12 x 17 inches.
  8. Fit into a 10x15 inch pan.
  9. Filling

  10. Sprinkle with crushed corn flakes.
  11. Top with apples.
  12. Combine sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over apples.
  13. Topping

  14. Roll remaining dough.
  15. Seal over apples.
  16. Cut slits on top of dough.
  17. Beat egg whites until frothy.
  18. Brush onto crust.
  19. Bake for 45 minutes.
  20. Glaze

  21. Combine powdered sugar and milk, drizzle
