Pizzelle, Anise

    This recipe makes 12 dozen pizzelle cookies, consider making a half batch.

    If possible, avoid making on a damp or humid day, the cookies will not crisp up as well.


  1. 1 c butter flavor Crisco
  2. 1 c margarine
  3. 10 eggs
  4. 2 c sugar
  5. 1 T anise seed
  6. 1 T anise extract
  7. 1 T vanilla
  8. 5 c flour, more or less for desired thickness of pizzelle


  1. Preheat Pizzelle Iron. Spray with nonstick spray.
  2. Melt Crisco and margarine together, and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat eggs.
  4. Add sugar, anise seed, anise extract, and vanilla, stir to combine.
  5. Add flour gradually, mix to make the batter.
  6. Place 1 T batter in the center of the iron.
  7. Bake for 1 minute and 15 seconds.
  8. Remove from iron and cool on rack.
  9. Once completely cooled, store in an airtight container.
