Amaretto Chocolate Dip

    This is a nice dessert to serve on Valentine's Day!

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 c heavy cream
  2. 2 T unsalted butter
  3. 2 T light brown sugar, packed
  4. 2 T corn syrup
  5. salt, pinch
  6. 4 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
  7. 2 T unsweetened cocoa powder
  8. 1 t vanilla extract
  9. 2 to 3 T Amaretto liqueur, optional
  10. Amaretti or other Italian cookies, for dipping
  11. fresh fruit for dipping

Instructions

  1. Bring the heavy cream, butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes.
  2. Whisk in the chocolate and cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in the vanilla and Amaretto, if using.
  4. Transfer the sauce to a small bowl.
  5. Serve warm or at room temperature with cookies and fruit for dipping.
