  1. 8 fresh mint leaves
  2. 3 slices of lime, halved, divided
  3. 1 1/2 T ultrafine baker's sugar, or quick dissolve sugar
  4. 1.75 oz Bacardi Superior rum
  5. .5 oz Cointreau
  6. crushed ice
  7. San Pellegrino sparkling mineral water
  8. lime and mint for garnish


  1. In a tall, 12 oz glass, add mint leaves, 1/2 slices of lime (that have been halved) and sugar.
  2. Using a muddling tool, muddle ingredients in the bottom of the glass for 7 turns to release the flavor and juices. Do not over muddle.
  3. Add 1/2 more slice of lime (halved) and fill the glass to the top with crushed ice.
  4. Pour rum and Cointreau over ice and fill to the top with mineral water.
  5. Serve with a regular sized straw, using it to release more of the mint flavor and dissolve the sugar on the bottom of the glass.
  6. Garnish with additional lime and mint, if desired.
