Cranberry Orange Sauce

  1. 3/4 c water
  2. 1 c sugar
  3. 1/4 t salt
  4. 1 T grated orange zest
  5. 1 (12 oz) bag cranberries, rinsed and picked through
  6. 2 T orange liqueur (such as Triple Sec or Grand Marnier)


  1. Bring water, sugar, and salt, and orange zest to boil in medium nonreactive saucepan over high heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve sugar.
  2. Stir in cranberries; return to boil.
  3. Reduce heat to medium; simmer until saucy, slightly thickened, and about two-thirds of berries have popped open, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat; stir in orange liqueur.
  5. Transfer to nonreactive bowl, cool to room temperature, and serve.
  6. Can be covered and refrigerated up to 7 days; let stand at room temperature 30 minutes before serving.)
