Peanut Butter Blossoms

Ingredients

  1. 48 Hershey's Chocolate Kisses, unwrapped
  2. 1/2 c shortening
  3. 3/4 c creamy peanut butter
  4. 1/3 c sugar
  5. 1/3 c light brown sugar, packed
  6. 1 egg
  7. 2 T milk
  8. 1 t vanilla extract
  9. 1 1/2 c flour
  10. 1 t baking soda
  11. 1/2 t salt
  12. granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended.
  3. Add sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy.
  4. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well.
  5. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.
  6. Shape dough into 1 inch balls.
  7. Roll in sugar; place on ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  9. Remove from oven, immediately press a Hershey's Kiss into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around the edges.
  10. Remove cookies from baking sheet to wire rack.
  11. Cool completely.
