Very Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

    Brownie

  1. 4 oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  2. 3/4 c butter (1 1/2 sticks)
  3. 2 c sugar
  4. 3 eggs
  5. 1 t vanilla
  6. 1 1/2 c flour
  7. 1 c walnuts, coarsely chopped, optional
  8. Topping

  9. 1 c semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz)
  10. 1/4 c water
  11. 2 T butter
  12. 1 c heavy whipping cream, whipped

Instructions

    Brownie

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. Set aside.
  3. In a microwave or double boiler, melt chocolate and butter; cool for 10 minutes.
  4. Add sugar; mix well.
  5. Stir in eggs and vanilla.
  6. Add flour; mix well.
  7. Stir in the walnuts, if using.
  8. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs (do not overbake). Cool completely.
  10. Topping

  11. Melt chocolate chips, water and butter in a microwave or double boiler; stir until smooth.
  12. Cool to room temperature.
  13. Fold in whipped cream.
  14. Spread over brownies.
  15. Chill before cutting.
  16. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
