Ingredients

    Sauce

  1. 3/4 lb ground beef
  2. 3/4 lb sweet Italian sausage, bulk
  3. 1 medium onion, diced
  4. 2 garlic cloves, minced
  5. 1 (28 oz) can tomato sauce
  6. 1 (12 oz) can tomato paste
  7. 1 T sugar
  8. 3/4 t salt
  9. 1/2 t oregano
  10. 1/8 t thyme
  11. 1/2 t pepper
  12. 1/8 t garlic powder
  13. Lasagna

  14. 1 1/2 (24 oz) containers cottage cheese (36 oz total)
  15. 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  16. 1 lb brick cheese, sliced (from deli).
  17. 6 Barilla lasagna noodles, cooked to package directions, and laid on wax paper

Instructions

    Sauce

  1. In large skillet, cook ground beef, sausage, onion and garlic together. Drain grease. Set aside.
  2. In large bowl, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, salt, oregano, thyme, pepper and garlic powder. Mix well to combine.
  3. Add reserved meat, stir to combine.
  4. Lasagna

  5. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  6. In medium bowl, mix cottage cheese and eggs together, stir till well combined. Set aside.
  7. In 9x13 inch baking dish, place a thin layer of sauce (about 1/3 of sauce) on bottom to coat.
  8. Lay three lasagna noodles across the sauce.
  9. Top with a layer of cottage cheese mixture (about 1/2 of mixture).
  10. Top with a layer of brick cheese slices.
  11. Repeat this process with another layer of sauce, noodles, cottage cheese, and brick cheese.
  12. Top with remaining 1/3 of sauce.
  13. Bake, uncovered, at 375°F for 1 hour.
  14. Allow lasagna to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
