Spiced Pecans

  1. 2 T unsaled butter
  2. 1/2 t salt
  3. 14 t black pepper
  4. 1/2 t ground cinnamon
  5. 1/8 t ground cloves
  6. 1/8 t ground allspice
  7. 1/4 t ground cayenne pepper (optional)
  8. 2 c pecan halves, 8 oz.
  9. 1 T sugar


  1. Melt butter in a 12 inch nonstick skillet over medium low heat.
  2. Stir in the salt, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and cayenne pepper (optional), followed by the pecans.
  3. Toast the nuts, stirring often, until the color of the nuts deepens slightly, 6 to 8 minutes.
  4. Transfer the nuts to a bowl, toss with the sugar.
  5. Spread the coated nuts on a plate to cool.
  6. Nuts can be stored in an airtight container until serving.
