Chai Latte Bars

Ingredients

  1. 8 oz unsalted butter, at room temperature (2 sticks)
  2. 2 1/3 c flour
  3. 1/2 c rolled oats
  4. 3 T malted milk powder (original or vanilla flavor)
  5. 1 t ground cardamom
  6. 1 t ground ginger
  7. 1 t ground cinnamon
  8. 1/4 t ground cloves
  9. 1/2 t salt
  10. 1 3/4 c packed brown sugar
  11. 1 egg
  12. 2 t vanilla extract
  13. 9 oz white chocolate, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Spray 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray
  3. In a medium bowl; whisk the flour, oats, malted milk powder, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until combined.
  6. Reduce the mixer to low; beat in the flour mixture until just incoporated.
  7. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake until the top is golden brown and the edges start to pull away from the sides of the pan, 20 to 25 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the white chocolate, then return to the oven until the chocolate softens, about 45 seconds.
  10. Remove from the oven and spread the white chocolate into a smooth layer.
  11. Transfer to a cooling rack, and let cool completely.
  12. Cut into squares to serve.
